My Novels

My first attempt at a novel was for the millennium. I was intent on being novel and wrote it as a symphony in words in four contrasting sections. This was far too ambitious for a raw beginner but the point is that I finished it. I will say more about this later but for the moment, it is definitely not fit for publication. After that, I have used the standard format, using chapters, but it was not until my fourth novel, The Ferry Girl, that I rid myself of certain idiosynchracies.

The Ferry Girl

A disruptive and unacademic adolescent, Tansy Helliwell, finds herself called upon to remedy grief after her sister’s best friend, Marie, is drowned on a school trip. She calls herself the ferry girl but finds herself with more and more passengers. She tries to build a garden of remembrance but Tansy’s muddled actions break up her family, produce a new Marie and take her into mortal danger.

Mortal Figurines

If Hannah Page and Okeley Tennyson had known that Clive and Delia Meadows’s art knew no boundaries they would not have agreed to join their exhibition of living statuary. The act of creation is bringing death to their subjects but brain-damaged Becky Ibbotson is matching them at the potter’s wheel and the products of her work are far more dangerous. Saintly Elizabeth Longridge is amongst the dead but in the end it is only she who can save the day.

Nearly ready for publication.
